Details
Decked out in colorful finery, two women dance the traditional Agbadza of the Volta region of Ghana. They coordinate to synchronize their graceful movements with each other, the rhythm and the music. George Blankson Bessa-Simons depicts them in his hallmark style, using a bright and cheerful palette. Originally a war dance performed by the Ewe people, today the Agbadza is danced for entertainment in special events, not only in Ghana but also by the Ewe in Togo and Benin.
