"Nicaragua's Gueguense is a very important folk dance, representing protest against colonial rule with texts that originated in the early 1700s. I want to share our proud traditions through this collage," Juan Carlos Moreno says. He depicts a colorful dancer in a feathered headdress, carrying a lance and a horse mask. Recycling dried corn husks, the artist dyes the natural fibers and mounts the composition on card stock. A coat of resin protects the images, which are presented in a mat board passe-partout.

I love art that is done in unusual modalities especially when it provides a sense of texture. Mr. Morenos corn cob husk collage is beautiful and also really interesting look at up close. This particular piece also fits standard frame sizes well, so I hung it in my bedroom almost immediately.

This is stunning! Parrots are my power animal, so this vibrant, well-crafted piece of art is perfect near my shamanic medicine tools. I would definitely order from this artist again!
