Depicting traditional Andean scenes, this miniature wall retablo is handcrafted by artisan Jesus Urbano of Peru. Using a hollowed and cross-cut carrizo reed as the holder and plaster to form the scenery and people, the artisan creates a cheerful, colorful piece of decor that exudes Latin American style.

I sent this as a birthday gift to a cherished friend who designs theater sets and costumes, including masks, and also collects them. Her reaction was honest delight with the retablo, so although I did not actually see it, I am happy to recommend it.
