This playful frog sits gazing up with bulging eyes, its long front legs outstretched and crossed. Mexican artisan Silvia Julian hand carves the alebrije cat figurine from copal wood and hand paints it azure blue with lots of colorful details, such as orange flowers on its back, black dots over yellow on its front legs and face, pink spirals down the center of its back, and a dot and scale motif in black and white on its back legs.
As alebrije artisans interpret the natural curves of each copal branch to help determine the final design, each alebrije sculpture can have unique variations.

"Soul-seeking bright deer"
This colorful delicate deer statuette is yearning. It looks very much like the photo online. I found it a little tricky to insert the ears and antlers and there is a tiny bit of paint missing right at the ear hole, but I am very impressed with the craftsmanship and the expressiveness of the piece.
