The imposing visage in this mask is designed by Ernestina Oppong Asante in Ghana. Hand-carved from native sese wood, the mask features painted details and aluminum plates embossed with intricate patterns. The artisan names the mask Odinkro, which means "area chief" in the Twi language spoken by the Akan peoples in Ghana.
