Colorful Bird Motif Cotton Blend Tapestry from Guatemala, "Marvelous Fauna"

Inspired by two birds sitting on a branch near her home, Micaela Churunel Ajú of the Maya Women's Rug Hooking Group of Guatemala creates a marvelous tapestry. She uses recycled cotton blend remnants to create the tapestry, diligently incorporating the yarns through a traditional hooking technique to depict the colorful birds among lovely flowers. The one-of-a-kind tapestry is completed with a cotton backing.
