Long ago, an old hunter who was returning home brought an alligator to the village. The creature was alive, and because the old hunter wished it, the alligator lived there for many years at the edge of the village. The alligator was whiny and it didn't like it when the villagers would bathe in the river. The reptile became jealous, for the river was his territory. But the alligator had become so grateful to the old hunter that he made music. That old one was the father of Kuiussi, cacique of the tribe Rikô. So goes a Brazilian folktale, beautifully illustrated by Berenice.
Titled "O jacaré manhoso" in Portuguese.
"I never tire of looking at her painting!"
I cannot speak about this particular painting, because I do not have it. But I would like to write about the painting I do have by Berenic. The painting which I purchased on Novica has two blue parakeets, two hummingbirds, and two butterflies, with a turquoise background. The colors are brilliant as jewels! I have had the painting for 5 years now. It is hung in my bedroom, so I see it every day. It lifts my heart every single time I gaze upon the joy and serenity it conveys. It is the best therapy I can imagine!
