Guatemala was the only source of jade in Mesoamerica, making the stone extremely rare and valuable. Its relative obscurity today has an upside in that modern crafters, like Antigua-based jeweler Carolina Quiroa, are free to experiment with both traditional and modern designs. This sterling silver cocktail ring features a black jade cut into an open circle, making it both ancient and modern at the same time.

The photo of this ring here is gorgeous. Mine, unfortunately, is nearly white - it is exactly the same color as those plastic glow-in-the-dark stars kids stuck to their ceilings in the 70s. As I do like the shape and size of it well enough, Ill keep it. Dont expect any green in this jade.
