All is color and happiness on an Andean farm. Children play amid carrot beds and cornfields beneath a sunny sky. Women of the Santa Magdalena Association create this delightful wall hanging. They work in the traditional art of arpillera (patchwork), crafting each tiny embroidered figure in three dimensions. The tapestry serves to measure a child's growth.
A display rod can be slipped through loops at the top.

This is a large Christmas stocking made by the artisans at Santa Magdalena using the traditional arpillera or patchwork art of sewing three dimensional designs. I also have two of their wall hangings and can say they are excellent artisans in this art and I love their work. This stocking has a star shooting through the sky, and a stable picturing the nativity. This nativity is very simple, with adorable figures representing the mother, father and the baby Jesus, surrounded by many, many Andean animals and trees, cacti, flowers and mountains. Each time you look at the stocking you will see something else they have sewn. I really love this stocking very much. I thank these ladies and wish them a very Happy Christmas!

Years ago I bought one of Santa Magdalena Associations wall hangings called Amazon. I still have it, and now I have A Jungle Story to hang with Amazon, and they are both amazing and beautiful. I love the fact that they decorate with so many interesting animals and birds, trees and bushes and flowers, and people. Every time you look at them, another object pops out and you notice it. Their work is just fascinating to your eyes. Very colorful and very interesting. I love the artisans and the hangings both!
