Sailing swiftly through the waters of the Chao Phraya River, the Sri Suphannahong royal barge celebrates the grandeur of the Thai kingdom. Thiva Boonnak replicates its beauty in this aluminum repousseé panel, featuring sailors working the golden oars. Manned by at least 50 oarsmen, the first Sri Suphannahong is said to have sailed during the reign of King Mahachakrapadi, between 1548-1568. The latest version of this singular boat was built in 1911 and is reserved for special occasions like the transportation of religious relics, or the celebration of Bangkok's bicentennial.
