African Dance Painting in Oils on Canvas, "Nnani Dance"

This wonderfully dynamic painting is the original creation of Agyarko Kotoko in Ghana. Working in oils on canvas with an impressionist-inspired style, he recreates the nnani dance. "The performance sings the praise of heroes of the state. The dance is rich with gestures and movements which serve as a form of communication between the performers and audience," says the artist. Kotoko signs his works with his artistic name, 'Lord Askia'.
