"Pinching is the first exclusive nose jewelry that uses neither perforation nor pressure. I registered the concept… The patent is for a new category of jewelry…."
"My first experience in the arts was in the theater, in a play called Nehemias DeMutcha's Incredible History, where I played the parts of five characters and sang in the opening.
"This experience lit a fire in me — strong and intense, a light that guides my path even today. To be capable of expressing my creativity and to face spectators was transforming. Then I interpreted the character of Father Jose Pedro in Carlos 'Damião' Wilson's production of the classic literary work, Captains of the Sand by Jorge Amado. With that show, I went on my first tour of Brazil. Then for the following ten years, I performed as singer in bars and hotels.
"In 1997, I entered Conspiraçcão Filmes where I worked as actor, producer and direction assistant for 13 years, then moved to Rede Globo where I worked up until 2017.
"At the same time, I began to work with wood and iron to create pictures that I exhibited a single time in the Espaço Zero.
"In mid-2017, I created a piece of jewelry to adorn an area of the body that didn't have any kind of accessory fulfilling that function. Pinching is the first exclusive nose jewelry that uses neither perforation nor pressure. I registered the concept with INPI, the National Institute of Industrial Property. The patent is for a new category of jewelry and the models were registered as new Industrial Designs.
"I've found that inventing has always been the most genuine way to accomplish my artistic potential. I am always closely involved with the development of the design. I've been doing this since I was 20 years old, when I registered the patent of a socket with independent internal light. Up to now, I've done 18 such projects, but I like to say I identify more with pinching. It's 'me' and is how I concentrate my potential and artistic abilities. The result is a unique piece of jewelry that is an authentic tool for self esteem, for decorating a noble area of the face (between the eyes) that gives the user a daring look.
"My mother was an upholsterer and cake chef. Sadly, she died when I was an adolescent but she certainly influenced me in my ability for the manual arts and the pleasure that I feel from them.
"I had an absent father and I lost my mother when I was 14. After that, nothing was easy. The truth is, it was never easy for them either. But my instinct for survival taught me to get up fast when I wake up, because I always choose to fight for life and, if it were easy, there'd be no struggle!
"Since 2006, I've been married to Elisa, my partner, my best friend and companion.
"I draw inspiration from day-to-day experiences. I am a specialist in the human being and am graduating with a degree in psychology. My greatest dream, from the time I was a boy, has been to leave a mark on life, to create something that increases in value for others. This is why I say that I 'am' pinching because, although these designs are just jewelry, they bring an additional value — one of stirring a desire often hidden or forgotten of wanting to be seen and admired, to be recognized for one's courage.
"It is not easy to work with something new, with an unknown concept. The challenge is to transform the reaction from 'it's beautiful. I never saw this before, but I don't think it works for me,' into something provocative that makes a person want to try it before making a decision. If the wearer looks in the mirror while using a pinching, then the concepts are newly formed or transformed.
"The hope I feel is the same that I've felt since I was born — of being alive and healthy. My plans are to live with more confidence in the consequences of sharing my jewelry with the world and to find the power to always continue dreaming about a better future for planet and all its wonderful beings!"
