"I create a lovely floral pattern in all my designs, as this makes my work look different than others."
I was born in Ubud Gianyar on February 17, 1985. Ubud is famous for its culture, art and friendly people. Living in Ubud inspired me, and the community here taught me about art. My father is a wood carver and almost all people in my village are also wood carvers. I began learning the craft when I was in elementary school and continued perfecting my work until graduated from senior high school.
"The woods we use for our carvings are getting rare and expensive. So I started thinking about making something with materials that are easy to obtain and always ready. After I married and our son was born, I chose MDF as a material. My son gives me happiness and brings spirit to my life, and also responsibility for his future.
"Working with MDF, I use a handsaw machine with the help of five artisans. We need to be faster in creating our designs. Using this kind of saw requires extra skill and carefulness, as working with MDF is more difficult than with wood. If the MDF is broken, it can no longer be used.
"I create a lovely floral pattern in all my designs, as this makes my work look different than others, and I use best material for finishing so they are interesting and have good quality but are not expensive."
