Her name is synonymous with bravery, for Yaa Asantewaa was a brave Ashanti queen who led her people to fight British colonialism in 1901. Revered and beloved by Ashanti women, she is honored in an African mask. Abdul Aziz Mohamadu carves the piece by hand, adding inlay of hand embossed brass. Colorful seed beads are meticulously applied by hand.
