"I take reminiscences, and color the images of my memory so that they remain with indelible clarity."
"I must say that I inherited my artistic abilities from my family. When I was an adolescent I followed my father's teachings, for he too was an artist."
Born in Cuzco in 1969, Edgar Aguirre studied at the Cuzco School of Art as well as at the Higher College of Fine Arts in Lima. Edgar's extraordinary work in the style of the Cuzco School has earned him great praise, as have his other works of Andean life. He has experimented with painting on glass, creating charming scenes that portray the dwellers of the high Andean mountains as they go about their everyday tasks.
"I am inspired by the Andean themes, the world I know and in which I have lived. I recreate scenes of the everyday life of my people and my town. I take memories and reminiscences, and color the images of my memory so that they stay with indelible clarity. Through my art I hope to capture and bear witness to the Andean customs and events.
"I am also inspired by all that is spiritual. We mustn't forget that both the symbols of the Christian faith (Cuzco School of Painting) and elves (creative paintings) are in essence spirits. The first celestial, the second mischievous. In January of 2004 I completed a course and obtained a degree in Spiritualism Through Art.
"I use oil on canvas as well as watercolor on Bristol board. When I paint on glass I use latex based paints. I use many different kinds of brushes, spatulas, and also wood among many other materials and tools. I have shown my work in many collective exhibitions at the city's National Museum of the Nation. I am not attracted to fairs, and have participated in very few competitions. My goals and aspirations are to become known and appreciated abroad, and I thank Novica for the chance they are offering us."
Surrounded by beautiful, moving depictions of the Virgin, of the angels and of the archangels, Edgar Aguirre's work comes alive in a stunning festive polychromy.

My first painting arrived and it is BEAUTIFUL!! It arrived on my Birthday, December 23rd and I could not have wished for a more lovely present. The subject, Saint Barbara looks both serene and mysterious. The beauty of the canvas almost glows and the mastery and reverence with which she is portrayed proves the masterful talent of Mr. Gomez.
I received the Virgin Mary painting and it is absolutely beautiful! Edgar did a wonderful job and I am very very pleased with his work. This is my first purchase of an orignal painting and I must say that I made the right choice in choosing such brilliant work by Edgar. Thank you very much!
The painting, Virgin of the Milk, is absolutely luminous. Beautifully painted and spiritual with a peaceful grace. Thank you so much. This is an artist who enriches the lives of others.
Today I received the painting 'Saint Michael Blessing the Devil'. I can' t find the right words to describe it - WOW! Thank you so much Edgar for your great work and Novica for providing this high standart service! I also must add that my painting arrived all the way from Peru to Ankara within 1 week!!!

The two paintings I ordered from Novica by Edgar Aguirre Gomez just arrived from Peru today and they are just beautiful ! I am so pleased with my purchases. The paintings are just exquisite, and they were packed and shipped with great care. I will be making many more purchases from Novica, that's for sure. Thank You for your beautiful work, Edgar. And Thank You Novica for making such wonderful artists and their work available to me. God Bless. Cathy
A wonder. Thanks a lot for your work. I'm impressed by the efficiency of the service and mooved by the card and little gift. Muchas gracias para su trabajo. Me gusta mucho. Me ha gustado mucho tambien su carta y regalito. Feliz Navidad
When my NOVICA paintings arrived I kept them wrapped all nice and tight in their plastic tubes. I was so afraid that I might be disappointed. I had just returned from Peru where I had fallen in love with Cuzco colonial replica paintings. It is difficult to describe my feelings as I finally viewed those paintings. First, I timidly unrolled 'Virgin Offering Flowers to Child'. When I saw the Virgin's luminous eyes my breath was literally taken away. There is such an aura of beauty, mysticism and spirituality that is coupled with a distinct artistic style that radiates through all three of the paintings I received, 'Uriel, the Archangel' and the stunning 'Our Lady of Mercy II'. Mr. Gomez is no mere copyist of colonial painting. He is a fine interpreter of that style along with a strong sense of Andean heritage that makes his art so powerful. Now, I must be so careful finding someone I can trust to mount these outstanding paintings.
Dear Edgar: Your painting, ""Escape to Egypt"" now holds a special place of honor in my home. I admire your style and the warmth of this composition. The frame is really beautiful! I hope to acquire more of your art.
I apologize for taking so long from the time of my purchase to post this testimonial, but I moved and am only now back to Novica. The painting of Santa Bárbara arrived in perfect condition. I had it stretched and framed and it looks lovely on my wall. I really like your painting style and wish I could afford many more, especially some of your larger paintings, but I would need a Huge house and it would look like a museum! Thanks again
