I began taking photographs when I acquired a camera that had belonged to my grandfather. This happened after I returned from four years in the U.S. where I studied mathematics at Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. I was about 20 years old and photography became an immediate passion. From the beginning, it was black and white that most attracted me for its less-obvious interpretation of reality. My relationship with photography became more and more intense. In 2003 I decided to abandon my career as a financial market analyst to dedicate myself exclusively to photography.
"My personal work focuses on the photo-essay and documentary. I strive to portray what I see in a spontaneous manner, balancing form and content. I never use models or created situations. I am only an observer. I have taken photographs in many parts of Brazil, South America and Europe, and have participated in a number of exhibits inside and outside Brazil. These include a collective exhibit at Dublin Castle in Ireland."
