A creation from distant Mexican lands merges the avant-garde trend with the natural elegance of the sylvan spirit. Martha Vargas's sterling silver band ring takes you to a world of minimalist style, embellishing its high-polish finish with bocote wood squares.

"The inspiration for this square cushion cover comes from the beautiful sight made by the sun when it rises and falls over the mountains. It's as if they fuse together," artisans from Women United for Artisan Development explain. The Guatemalan artisans weave the cotton cushion cover in a spicy cinnamon hue featuring chili red suns and escorted by chocolate brown birds. The artisans border the square cover with cording and include a zipper closure on the back.

This fabulous pair of keychains is from Waraporn Khamsuk, master puzzle artisan from Thailand. The fobs are real puzzles, crafted from raintree wood and rubberwood, that can actually be taken apart and solved. They swing from stainless steel rings.

Corral keys, wallets, and coins on a desk or entryway with this hand-tooled leather catchall. Designed by Johnny Jimenez, it features a lasso motif inspired by the cowboys —morochucos— who live and work in Peru's Andean highlands.
