Dewa De Wardana in Bali combines a trio of blue hues to create the wave pattern on this lovely, eco-friendly shawl. Balinese artisans weave the cotton shawl by hand, treating the fabric with pale blue, royal blue, and navy blue natural dyes.

Traditional methods and timeless style join forces on this breathtaking shawl designed by Indonesian artisan Yuni Kristina. She uses a stamp batik process on 100% silk to craft shawls that evoke the rich cultural history of Bali and Java. The truntum motif takes center stage in shades of biru, or blue. Thought to have been designed by the Queen Kanjeng Ratu Kencana of the kingdom of Surakarta, the truntum pattern represents unconditional love and appears on this shawl in teal over a celadon background. Caribbean blue colored kawung appear at the center of every truntum motif. Traditionally, the kawung motif represents good will toward human kind and is thought to have been designed by the King of Mataran.

Indonesian artisan Yuni Kristina presents this stunning shawl, resplendent in shades of jade, teal, and Caribbean blue. Hand-stamped using the traditional batik process, the silk wrap features the kawung motif, believed to have originated with the King of Mataran and to represent good will toward all. The truntum motif, a symbol of unconditional love, appears in the corner of each kawung, and the tumpal motif graces the ends of the shawl.

Made Arsana weaves a breezy shawl that makes the perfect lightweight layer for both casual and sophisticated looks. Its loose, airy weave and cotton boucle yarn give the wrap a lovely texture. The Balinese artisan creates a plaid with lichen brown and robin's egg blue on eggshell white.

Working with ancestral textile craft techniques, Yuni Kristina depicts Java's trumtum motif. It covers a blue silk scarf, stamped by hand and embellished with batik. A symbol of awakening love, it refers to a queen who felt neglected when the king took a mistress. She took up batik, creating stars in the dark sky, stars that became her friends. The king was so impressed with her batik that he rediscovered his great love for his wife.
