Mictlantecuhtli, lord of the dead, stares out from his multiple skulls in this ceramic mask handcrafted by the Angel Ceron Artisan Association of Mexico. Mictlantecuhtli's main face is half skull and half man, with a serpent slithering down the side of his face. A multitude of smaller skulls complete the mask. The mask's details are hand painted in a myriad of earthy colors. A small loop at the top of the mask allows for it to easily be hung on a wall.

Oscar Rodolfo Mendoza celebrates the art of the ancient Maya with the original design of this ceramic vessel. Decorated with the sculpted face of a Pibil man on the lid and human glyphs on the body, the vessel is crafted by hand with the same ceramic techniques developed by the Maya Pibil people. Little is known about them, other than that the Pibil were a warrior and migrant community that came to El Salvador from Mexico. This vessel is treated to achieve an antiqued look, featuring red and orange hues obtained from achiote seeds.

El Salvador's Oscar Rodolfo Mendoza creates this Mayan tata mask, which is handcrafted from ceramic and painted by hand with natural brown and red pigments derived from the achiote plant. The tata wears face paint, a spotted headdress, and round earrings. A nylon cord on the back allows this mask to be hung on a wall.

Depicted in low relief on a ceramic plaque, the feathered serpent of Mesoamerican legend has a human face. He emerges from a bowl holding bark paper. To the Maya, he was Kukulkan while the Aztecs called him Quetzalcoatl and, in Yucatán, he was known as Tepeu Kukumaz. Artisans from the Angel Cerón Artisan Association recreate a fragment of an archaeological treasure from Lintel 15 in Yaxchilan. The original is on display in the British Museum.

The face depicts the Sun Jaguar of the underworld seen in an incense burner from the Classic Maya site of Palenque. The mouth makes reference to Chac, the Maya rain god. Covered with skulls, the headdress is an interpretation of the Aztec tzompantli, a rack where the heads of sacrificial victims were displayed as an offering to the gods.
