Designed by Indian artisan Navya Khanna, this pair of cushion covers is handcrafted of cotton denim patchwork. The artisan carefully selects the cotton patches, combining them by hand to resemble the fronts of pocketed button-up shirts. Each cover features a back in solid navy, and opens with a zipper for inserting a cushion.

Despite being woven on a traditional wooden loom, this beautiful cushion cover has modern appeal. Zosimo Laura in Peru designs the cover, which features a vibrant diamond motif on the front and a solid blue back. The cover is crafted from pure wool yarns on a cotton warp, and features a button opening on the back for inserting a cushion.

Batik is a fabric art in which cloth is stretched on a wooden frame and a design is sketched in pencil. Then a mixture of melted wax and resin (70%/30%) is painted onto areas where color is not desired and the fabric is dipped in a solution of reactive dye, water, salt, and sodium bicarbonate. When the fabric is crumpled into the dying solution, the wax cracks, creating an attractive network of fine lines. The wax is removed and process is repeated for each color utilized. Finally, the cloth is washed and rinsed to remove any excess dye.
