Yuni Kristina conjures lavish colors and classic Javanese batik patterns for the design of this silk shawl. They include the parang, or dagger, once exclusive to the courts of Surakarta and Jogyakarta. Also, they include the kawung, an eight-pointed rosette set within a square, rhombus or circle, formerly reserved for the sultan's use.

Yuni Kristina draws on millennial Balinese traditions to create this exquisite shawl. Working in batik on silk, she combines modern motifs in red and orange. The elegant patterns are stamped by hand and fringe finishes the lovely wrap.

Each motif is created by hand, as evidenced by the occasional pencil mark or slight color variations.

Thought to have been designed by the Queen Kanjeng Ratu Kencana of the kingdom of Surakarta, the truntum pattern represents unconditional love and appears on this shawl in moss green over an ochre background. Jade colored kawung appear at the center of every truntum motif. Traditionally, the kawung motif represents good will toward human kind and is thought to have been designed by the King of Mataran.

By Hari and Arthur, this modern shawl is created from luxurious silk. Its motifs in hand painted batik depict leaves in green, gray, white and olive. Due to the nature of the technique, no two shawls are ever identical, as the coloring process depends on the brightness of the sun.
