Serene and lovely, Otokpa bows a graceful head. In West Africa, Otokpa is a river god who appears only at dawn; the years in which the benevolent spirit is seen are believed to be very prosperous. Designer Nana Adu Amankwapam presents the countenance carved from sese wood and finished with mansion polish. Embossed brass leaf adorns the forehead and cheeks, while a long-beaked water bird poses on the head.
