African Cubist Painting, "Traditional Batakari Smock"

Bright color closures reveal the abstracted portrait of a man wearing Ghana's time-honored batakari smock. He wears a tall hat in a celebration of West African identity. "Our traditional apparel increases our confidence in ourselves as Ghanaians," artist Gordon Amponsah confides. He presents the original painting in a Manila board mat.
