Moza captures the proud visage of a Kuikuro man as she paints with a fascinating combination of media. Having lived amongst the Kuikuro for some time to study their customs and art forms, Moza paints this extraordinary portrait with colors obtained from natural resources, thus preserving their traditions. She obtains yellow from saffron, red from the annatto seed, green from spinach leaves and black from carbon. Moza uses sand and clay for the face, and combines chalk and carbon for the necklace. She completes her composition with a coat of varnish.

The Kuikuro community lives in Brazil's Mato Grosso region, and they are the most populous of the Upper Xingú region. Their religion is a mixture of shamanist and healing beliefs, and they also believe in Itseke, beings that live in the water an forests that can bring illness and death.
