Have you ever been on the hunt for the perfect rug? I feel like I always am. Rugs create such a cozy environment in the home, and the colors and patterns on them speak volumes for the feel it will give to the room. Colors evoke certain emotions and feelings when you see them. These emotions vary from person to person. For me, when I see a neutral palette like this, I feel calm. It feels relaxing and safe to me, maybe because it reminds me of home.
Many of the elements in my home have neutral or earthy colors. From the color of the walls to my home decor. This beautiful Zapotec wool rug fit right in. As you will see through my photos, my kitty Bella agreed. She loves to lay on rugs and has been snuggling up in this corner almost everyday since the rug was put there. It’s so adorable.
I am a fan of Alfredo Ruiz’s work. This is now the second handmade item of his that I own. I also have a beautiful rust colored handbag that also has the same pattern on it. He truly does amazing work, and I love the motifs that he works with, being inspired by landscapes, nature, people and animals. It would be a dream to have this rug of his.
One of my favorite thing about small area rugs is the ability to move them around in your home anytime you want. They are small enough to fit in most spaces, so if you feel a need to freshen up a little corner, you can move it to a new space and create a new feel. I love to pile different size rugs on top of each other as well. I dream of having a living room full of layered bohemian rugs all over the place! I think my kitty would agree with me. 🙂
I think my favorite part of this rug may be its name… “La luz del horizonte” or “Light of the Horizon”. Such a beautiful depiction and it comes through when you look at this rug.
