The Cats of Bali Find a Home

Millions of cats, trillions of cats, could be my catchphrase. I’m a huge advocate of animal rescue and devote my time to various animal rescue organizations. Is it any wonder the first thing I was attracted to on the NOVICA website was the hand carved cat sculptures created by Nengah Sudarsana?  I was first drawn to their smiling faces and serene expressions, filling me with a sense of peace.

Cat Sculpture

Made from Suar wood and signed by the artist, these figures stand approximately seven inches high and weigh around seven ounces, making them the perfect size to group together for a display. I have slowly been adding different cats to my collection and have amassed the Hear No Evil cat, the Cat in Deep Meditation and the Kitty Cat Stretch. Each piece has a slightly different grain of wood, but the endearing and intricate details show Mr. Sudarsaua’s deep love and respect of animals.

Cat Sculptures

I particularly want to create wildlife and other animal themes in an exact, realistic and original way…,” Mr. Sudarsaua states and he has succeeded. These sculptures occupy a prominent place in my home and are frequently admired by guests, allowing me to expound on my pet cause, the rescue of animals. Humorously, some of the greatest admirers of my cat sculpture collection is visiting children, who ask if they can touch the cats and then tuck them under their arm and carry them throughout the house. These sculptures are sturdy enough to stand up to little hands and remained intact when they have taken a tumble to the floor, not that I recommend dropping them!

I will not allow anything out of my hands that I would not want to own and display in my own house,” is Mr. Sudarsaua’s motto. He has succeeded as these cats make me smile whenever I see them.
