My fondest memories of childhood are of my aunt’s beach house, sipping on a “tropical drink,” usually water flavored with lemon. I’ve carried the love of entertaining -and tropical drinks-into adulthood. Having a drink with friends is a magical experience I wanted to incorporate into our table decor. No boring plastic cups for us! These Caribbean Cocktail glasses, made from recycled glass, have added a touch of the tropics to everything from family cookouts to relaxing evenings with friends.
Each piece of this set is hand blown in Mexico by Javier and Efren, giving each glass a unique quality. Some glasses have a little more green at the top and some have more air bubbles. I had expected each glass to be fragile, meaning I had to keep them off limits from my kids and stored on a high shelf away from my pets. I was surprised to find the glasses were weighty enough the kids could use them without unexpected spills or breakage when they were turned askew on the table. While the glasses say they are top shelf dishwasher safe, I have not been taking chances and have been following the hand wash only recommendation. I plan to use these pina colada glasses for many more summer evenings!
I’ve styled these glasses for several occasions and found they are amazingly versatile. With a napkin tucked inside they can be dressed up for dinner parties or used in formal place settings. For a more casual get together, the glasses can be placed on a tray for an informal round of drinks before dinner or used in breakfast setting for juice. The possibilities for my table are endless!
I’ve been browsing more of Javier and Efren’s work and find myself captivated by their drinkware, including these unique handblown Margarita glasses. My inner self is dreaming of more relaxing summer days!
