My absolute favorite way to decorate is with photos, paintings and sculptures. Not just one framed piece but several arranged in a large collage. I don’t like matching frames or even frame color for that matter. I want my wall to be art as much as the pictures or paintings themselves.
Where to start is probably the most intimidating step. Seriously, what’s the worst that can happen? I will have to cover another nail hole with a picture? I’m okay with that. (I so wish I was kidding here!)
For me, I start with my focal point item and then I add pieces around it. NOVICA has some amazing pieces to get you started. Just take a look around at their vast selection of paintings.
I’m not sure what it is about this bronze Buddha’s hand photograph but I find it completely fascinating. It’s one that I could easily stare at for hours.
The colors in this picture would create a beautiful centerpiece on any wall.
Remember, your wall’s centerpiece doesn’t have to be a photo or painting, NOVICA has other pieces of artwork that would make fabulous focal points.
I adore this tree! Each one is unique in color and detail because the artisan creates every one by hand. At 31 inches high, this piece will truly stand out!
Once I have my center focal point, the next step is to add small pieces of art all around it, choosing from family photos, sculptures, canvas’ or framed paintings. NOVICA has the exact items I would use.
The Sayula Sun is rustic and rugged looking. At only 6.5″ in diameter, it’s just the perfect little accent piece.
This Hibiscus flower wall sculpture is made of suar wood, is signed by the artist. It is 8.75″ high and 14.25″ wide. This would be perfect on top or below my focal point. The color and the flower look so beautiful and would truly be an amazing accent to any home décor.
This picture appeals to me from corner to corner. I have the most adorable photograph of my granddaughter standing next to a distressed blue door that would be fantastic hung catty-corner to this 3-D piece. Both pieces are 8.5″ by 9.25″ so they would complement each other perfectly.
My next pick would be the Recycled Paper Monkey; how can you NOT smile when you look at this piece!?
Personally, I would hang this playful monkey more on the crooked side. I don’t think there’s any way to hang him that would be wrong. This 7.5 inch, mischievous creature is created by hand with recycled paper and cement, then painted green and gold, creating the illusion of an aged bronze piece. It’s a fun, quirky piece that would be totally at home on my wall.
Truly, don’t be afraid to mix and match textures, colors, and sizes. I have FUN with my walls; they reflect my personality and they make me happy! Shouldn’t your walls make you smile too?
