Slender black horns are erect, crowning an authentic African mask by Kobina Asmah. Carved by hand of native sese wood, an antelope is covered with beadwork and receives applications of ornate brass repoussé. "In African mythology, the antelope is a symbol of swiftness and alertness," the artisan explains. He designs the piece to be displayed on the wall or to stand alone on a tabletop.

This sculpture of the Benin Oba is rare, but the item I received did not have the richness of the picture. Also the sculptures coloring on the neck had bed a-lot when the item arrived. This was going to be a culmination moment of my current collection. .
