This unique mask design is the inspiration of Ghanaian artisan Daniel Quarcoo. Two eagles flank a tree on the forehead of the mask; the designs are carefully etched in the wood in a series of small dots. Crescent-shaped eyes are underscored by triangular shapes on the cheeks and a long, straight nose. The mask is hand-painted in shades of green, yellow, brown and black.

As a bird lover and parrot owner, this might be one of my favorite NOVICA purchases ever! I always appreciate those rare occasions when artists do a good job capturing bird personalities. The pictures in the listing looked like Mr. Quarcoo had done a good job, but it blows me away in person. This sculpture looks so lifelike and has so much personality that I genuinely keep expecting it to move. I rarely photograph my purchases. But I felt like I had to at least attempt it here, because I feel like the photos didnt do it justice. After several attempts across different settings, I dont feel like my photo does it justice either, but its in outdoor light and in a different angle an I feel like captures other facets of this parrots personality Mr. Quarcoo captured in this sculpture. Mr. Quarcoos page doesnt have any other sculptures of local wildlife currently, but I think he has a knack for it, and I will be checking his page periodically in the hopes that he does more.

Meticulously crafted. This is a beautiful piece of art for my collection and is also the right size and design for my Christmas cultural decor. However it is smaller than expected because the stand is included in the stated measurement.
