This angel's contemplative look seems to indicate that her book contains something very interesting. This ceramic sculpture is the work of Nicaraguan Arlen Estrada and features a bright red robe with a geometric pattern along the hem, all painted by hand.

A llama looks over his shoulder in this graceful sculpture by Marco Floríndez. "On the base, I added textures with the application of solder, which makes it very interesting," he says. "My theme was the agricultural evolution in the Andes. These animals play a part in many ways."

Suresh Pant was born and brought up in a hill station where he spent much of his time wandering in the jungle, collecting fallen branches with interesting shapes. Working with eucalyptus wood, he conjures the power of a fire raging through the forest. Tall flames seem to leap skyward in this unique signature sculpture.

Resembling the folds of a mountain range, this sculpture was started by nature and finished by India's Suresh Pant. He envisions a theme upon finding the piece of wood, and gently carves it to finish the shape that dwells in natural abstraction. "We carved these spatulas from cericote wood, which is a hardwood. They are ideal to use when frying things as they won't scratch pans like the metal ones do, or melt like the plastic ones do," explain the carvers from Peten Wood Artisan Sculptors. This fine statuette in suar wood by Wayan Rendah depicts a recumbent flute player wearing traditional dancer garb. Interestingly, this work combines the relaxed disposition of a Balinese farmer with the flair for performance of an experienced dancer.

Inspired by the Japanese lucky cat Maneki Neko, Duangkamol develops her own Thai version in this pair of felines, "My favorite animal is the cat. I think cats are very interesting and charming. I have worked on several figurines and even some dinnerware in the shape of cats. Even at the kilns, I have some cats around to keep me company." Working with Celadon ceramic, she brings to life this pair of lucky cat figurines finished in light green ceramic glaze wearing pink collars.

The populous neighborhoods located on the hills of Rio de Janeiro are known as favelas and they are always bursting with life and colour. They are Brazilian artist Arnaldo de Moraes' favorite motif which he depicts in abstract style with acrylic paints in striking works of art that marvel.

Titled Favela Preta e Branca Grande in Portuguese.Favelas are populous neighborhoods located on the hills of Rio de Janeiro and one of the best known is Dona Marta, named after saint Martha who is the patron of servants and cooks.
