Mauricio Morales crafts a small ceramic bird figurine that features exquisite hand painted detailing. "The process for making these small animals was something I learned when I was small...since then it has become a passion of mine," says the Guatemalan artisan, adding that the bird sculpture is made for, "...all of those who love birds." He starts by mixing the clay and carefully shaping the figure, and then he adds aluminium legs and feet. After the bird is fired, he sands it, mixes his own colours and paints the figurine. The result is a charming, meticulously decorated representation of a snowy owl, complete with tuftless head, small yellow eyes, and white plumage with hints of grey.

“Another Way Of Perserving One Of Our Wildlife.”

I have purchased several items from this artist for myself but when I laid my eyes on this beautiful snowy owl I knew I had to buy this for a friend who is a HUGE fan of Hedwig from the J.K. Rowlings books of Harry Potter. The incredible coloring, lines and design of this owl by the artisan makes you think that he had a snowy owl in his studio posing as a model for this ceramic piece. When I presented it to my friend, he couldnt have been more surprised but also more happy upon receiving it which in turn made me pleased.

Realistic accurate detailing next best to real Wildlife gift item, display in home or office setting, for Harry Potter Hedwig fan, present for bird fancier

“Wow! This woodpecker is amazing!”

Many thanks Mauricio. Your birds never disappoint. I was going to order this to give to a friend, but decided I needed it more. This will join other birds on top of the antique secretary. The wires in their feet make it so easy to pose them.

“Amazing”

Mauricio is a true artist. He paints these little birds to look quite life-like. Ive purchased 3: Red-tailed hawk, Chickadee, and Woodpecker. One is for a friend and the other 2--well, --theyre in my house so I see them every day. Only 1 thing--the Woodpecker is a different size than the others. Just FYI.
