Working with local artisans in Ghana, Victoria Agyepomaa designs this beautifully bold mask that is hand carved from sese wood and painted by hand. Triangular brass plates adorn the sides of the face, while recycled glass beads decorate the forehead in a brilliantly colorful pattern. Victoria names her design sithembiso, which is a Zulu word meaning "promise."

This remarkable mask is the original creation of Ghana's Awudu Saaed. Carved by hand from rubberwood, the mask is then inlaid with small triangles of brass that cover the entire forehead. colourful recycled glass beads embellish the lower part of the face, while the head and trunk of an elephant accent the upper portion. The artisan names his design Akyiglinyi, meaning "elephant" in the Ewe language.
