Lined with velvet, this petite decorative box has a design that was inspired by Persian carpets. Niyaz from India creates the box from kail wood, covering it with papier mache before painting it meticulously by hand with poster paints and pigments derived from natural flowers.

Intended to hold jewelry or trinkets, this petite round lidded box is carved by hand from volcanic basalt in a labor-intensive process. Grupo Comonfort presents the box, which has the look of an ancient artifact.

Ayub hand-carves the box from select walnut wood, its refined details steeped in Indian artistic heritage. Aesthetic and practical, the piece is ideal for storing jewelry and trinkets. The box features a magic lock and can be opened by sliding the lower front panel of the box to the right side.

Following in his father's footsteps, Ayub strives to create decorative items of superior quality. He works with Kashmiri walnut wood, which takes between two to three years to dry out completely. He uses no artificial colorings, rubbing the piece with an agate stone prior to applying a wax polish. It features a removable shelf, maroon velvet lining, and brass hinges.

Peruvian craftsman Daniel Vargas is from Cochas Chico in the El Tambo district of Huancayo province and has been gaining mastery of the Huancayan art of engraving gourds since he was a teenager. Known as mates, the dried gourds are decorated using various engraving and burning techniques. Daniel's design, created by hand, transforms the dried mate gourd into a finely detailed full-figured cat. The top half of the gourd can be lifted up using a painted wooden knob so that small items, accessories, or trinkets can be stored inside.
