Throughout Mexico, the balero is a toy popular with children for many decades or more. In fact, is thought to have originated in the Yucatan peninsula before 950 B.C. This classic children's game challenges the payer to swing a ball on a string into a wooden cup with a handle. Martha Vargas realistically recreates the toy in a sterling silver pendant necklace.
