Quiet arcades open onto a street where rustling palm trees provide shade. The stately buildings house a tavern on Itaparica island in the Bahia de Todos os Santos. Built at the end of the 19th century, the stucco structures with tiled roofs evoke the peace of a bygone time. Pulika portrays the scene in a color xylograph, or woodcut print, from his "Itaparica" series. Titled "Boteco do Seu Latif" in Portuguese.
