A beautiful rainforest native, the toucan is a common sight in Costa Rica where six species live together. Elpidio Chavarria depicts the large, long-beaked bird on a handsome ceramic catchall. Inspired by the exquisite ceramics of the ancient Chorotega people, the shallow bowl stands on three legs.
