The close bond between mother and daughter is portrayed in abstract form in this outstanding folk painting by Indian artist Bharti Dayal. Both mother and daughter have abstract features and are dressed in traditional and richly adorned Hindu attire and jewellery. The child feels protected by her mother and believes that with her she is safe from all the dangers of the world. The multicoloured painting in Madhubani style is created with acrylic paint and vegetable dyes applied with brushes, sharpened reeds and pen nibs on handmade paper.

"Vibrant and Charming!"
This painting is delightful, a great combination of traditional form and colors and modern, geometrical composition. I love the parrots expression and the checkerboard-bird background.
