A sharply-dressed bird tries to fly away, but its leg is chained to a human hand. It fights for freedom and believes it can be set free, only to realize in the end it was just an illusion. This powerful composition by El Salvador's Jorge Alberto Merino is part of his "Caffeine" series, which includes expressionist-style paintings filled with oneiric elements and crafted with ink and coffee wash on canvas.
