Carved by hand of sese wood, this mask honors the beliefs and customs of the Dan community, who live in Liberia and the Ivory Coast. Salihu Ibrahim decorates the expressive mask with jute braids and beard. Believed to depict the spirit of darkness, the mask is credited with bringing success in hunting and in business.

This to me is my most cherished piece, I got it yesterday and I immediately put it up on the wall where I can see it. I work on the computer alot of the day so I look at it often. I love it and a huge credit to the talented artist who made it!
