Inspired by the Dan people of Liberia, this African wood mask is used for protection and as a channel for communication with the spirit world. Eva Asantewa Amakye of Ghana meticulously hand carves this mask from sese wood and completes it with a beard of jute. A scarification line splits the mask's forehead while the squinting eyes are surrounded by a lighter wood color.
