Trimmed with silk satin, this magnificent drapo vodou or "voodoo flag" represents Simbi, patron of rain and guardian of springs and ponds. Mireille Delisme in Haiti, in coordination with ARTisaNETWORK, creates the flag from tiny glass beads that are hand stitched to a cotton backing. Haitian voodoo flags are traditionally used in ceremonies, and are believed to serve as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds.
