Expressionist African Painting of Ghanaian Market Women, "Women with Calabashes"

Wearing colorful dresses, four women walk together to the market. Instead of shopping bags, they balance calabash gourds on their heads. The versatile lightweight bowls are also used to store and carry water and dried foodstuffs in Ghana. Godwin Atta Geoman depicts them in vibrant color and an expressionistic style.
