That freedom should never be taken for granted is a concept Guatemalan artist Carolina Cabrera ruminated on during the long months of confinement due to the pandemic. And nothing embodies freedom better than wild birds, subject to no restrains as humans did because of the COVID-19 restrictions. That juxtaposition led to a series of drawings dedicated to the majesty of birds like the blue jay, whose distinctive colours the artist sublimely captures in a realistic style with the smoothest strokes of crayons and acrylic markers on paper.
