A quetzal and a parrot adorn this beautiful cushion cover from Lorenza Perez in Mexico. The artisan hand-embroiders the front of the colourful cover in a process that can take as long as four weeks. The plain back features a slit for inserting a cushion.

"Nice colors, great stichwork, and a lot of character"
I was somewhat on the fence about how cartoonish the birds looked in the picture, but I love birds and I love purple, so I figured it was worth getting. Up close, you can see just how detailed and perfect the stitchwork is. It also becomes clear that she is depicting these birds in naturalistic poses that I recognize from my own birds.Ms. Perez is clearly both a great seamstress and a great observer of nature, and she also has a good color sense. I also really like the composition on this piece.
