Details

Sizzling colors blaze across the handloom as Mario Chávez creates this extraordinary rug. Working in virgin wool, he weaves colorful bands of bright geometric motifs. They frame rows of "god's eye" diamonds that point to the four cardinal directions. All the patterns allude to the ornate fretwork at the archaeological site of Mitla.

Titled "Entre Mitla y mariposas" in Spanish.

Because each rug is individually woven, measurements could vary +/- 2 inches (5 cm).
