Here at NOVICA, we love NPR. We obsessively listen to it on our drive in to work and usually on our drive home (unless we are picking up the kids… in that case, it’s Taylor Swift). We love the in-depth reporting and the different worldviews. So, that being said, we were absolutely thrilled, honored, humbled, etc. when NPR’s Laura Sydell told us she was going to Guatemala and wanted to meet some of our artisans!
We connected her with our regional director, Diego Chacon, and he played tour guide around Atitlán Lake and Guatemala City. Diego introduced her to several artisans, including woodcarver Nicolas Chavez. She apparently was very impressed with his work and made him a star!
