The environment always comes first for Grettel Sandoval. The Costa Rican artisan crafts this green and gold hand-painted windchime with recycled glass she collects from factories that dispose of this material.

"I love to capture my emotions and moods when designing. My pieces have a cultural meaning since I aim to represent Costa Rican nature and also the strength and the spirit of Costa Rican women," Grettel says.

Ayacucho's nights are full of natural beauty and color in Zosimo Laura's depiction of the region's stunning views. The beings repeatedly uttered the word alebrije. Upon recovering, Linares recreated these figures in bright colors using papier mache techniques and called them alebrijes. His work became famous and was one of the main influences of artisans in the state of Oaxaca who began crafting alebrijes of their own using traditional wood carving methods.
