Original Oil Realist Painting, "Doña Josefa's Kitchen"$629.99
Doña Josefa's kitchen brims with life as she prepares delicious culinary treasures from Peru. "Doña Josefa is my friend, and this is the kitchen at one of my favorite restaurants. It is like most traditional kitchens, which now bear the influence of the Inca, Spanish and even the French, because of the appliances," explains Peruvian artist Alcides Medina. "The women are wearing the costumes of the Colca Valley. I find the activity in this kitchen to be fascinating."
Titled "Cocina de Doña Josefa" in Spanish.
Original Abstract Acrylic Painting on Canvas from Brazil, "Mill"$259.99
Monochromatic hues of black and grey dance around a bright orange glow in this abstract painting by Luiz Antonio Lopes of Brazil. Lopes says that the movement created by these painted forms reminds him of a spinning mill. Inspired by fantasy and dream-like forms, Lopes creates a fine abstract piece that mesmerizes.
Thai Folk Art Painting of an Elephant, "Auspicious Elephant"
Depicted in russet, an elephant with splendid tusks walks proudly through the darkness. Tanachai Ekuruchaitep portrays the mighty pachyderm in the style of ancient paintings. Once favored by the kings of old Siam, the elephant's image became a national emblem seen on royal thrones as well as on the national flag. Fascinated by the history and culture of Thailand, Ekuruchaitep wishes for his art to bring continuance of the past. He treats the work with an undisclosed technique for an antique effect.
