Emblazoned geometric patterns in black and off-white traverse the fiery red expanse of this hand-woven rug. Crafted by the Ruiz Bazan family, each superb detail accentuates the alluring texture of 100% virgin Mexican wool. Featuring delicate fringes, the piece makes a distinctive accent to the bold décor.
Zapotec rugs are hand-woven by a "Community of Weavers" in the high valleys of Oaxaca. The Mexican weaving tradition dates back to pre-Hispanic times when the Zapotec residents of this lush region had to pay tribute to the Aztecs in the form of cloth. The community has developed this woven art form throughout the centuries, continually improving upon style, color, and design.
